On The Simpsons, It’s been a heck of a ride for Harry Shearer. But now the famous voice behind such iconic characters as Mr. Burns, Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Dr. Hibbert, Lenny and Principal Skinner has chosen to leave the show. As Shearer tweeted last night, he “wanted…the freedom to do other work.”
So does that mean the characters he voiced will be, um, ‘let go’ or otherwise ‘made redundant’? Not at all.
According to a statement released by Simpsons showrunner Al Jean, they still have a future on the show.
